Making a Move

Making a Move

Community Dance Project at Kampnagel Hamburg

"Making a Move" is a coordinated project by the choreographers Royston Maldoom, Tamara McLorg and Josef Eder. Under the artistic direction of Royston Maldoom, the choreographers worked with participants from the Grone Netzwerk Hamburg in separate workshops to create individual choreographies with thematically varied approaches, which were later brought together to form an independent work of art.
The connection between the different works is the philosophy of community dance, which is shared by all choreographers. (Programme)

City lights by Josef Eder
The speechlessness in our society, the blindness with which people pass each other by, loneliness and isolation form the background of the choreography with which Eder, together with 10 adult amateurs, explored to create his own interpretation of these timeless existential challenges. With the dialogue of the bodies moving to the cheerful-melancholic music of Charly Chaplin, Josef Eder tells the story of the search for one's own place within a faceless crowd, and for the search of happiness being a couple, or being alone.
