Adugna

Love Piece

Dance theater with the Adugna Dance Company

Adugna was founded by Royston Maldoom in the 1980s. For his "Carmina Burana" he engaged children from the streets of Addis Ababa, who then developed into a group of young dancers and underwent contemporary dance training. Other choreographers such as Mags Byrne and Tamara McLorg brought their experience to the project and were part of the training team.
Of the former street children, many now work internationally as professional dancers and choreographers, and continue to share their experience working in their neighbourhoods in Addis Ababa. They create projects with street children, the elderly, AIDS patients and people with disabilities. The dance company "Adugna" emerged from this group.

In an intensive workshop I developed the dance performance "Love Piece" with the company.

Choreography: Josef Eder

Premiere on April 11, 2010 at the Grand Hotel
